"Removing a detached instance com.rim.bes.bas.jobmanager.entity.JobEntity" causing slow BlackBerry Administration Service task processing

The following log line is seen numerous times in the BlackBerry Administration Service logs:

(10/10 23:40:31:501):{WorkManager(2)-9330} [com.rim.bes.bas.BASExceptionStackInterceptor] [WARN] [BBAS-2007] {u=SystemUser, t=6019440} Caught unhandled RuntimeException in org.jboss.ejb3.EJBContainerInvocation method deleteJobInNewTransactionLocal - java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Removing a detached instance com.rim.bes.bas.jobmanager.entity.JobEntity#1433325

The symptoms seen during this event are slow task deployment on the following operations:

  • Sending IT Policies
  • Application push

This is a previously reported issue that is being investigated by our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

CollapseWorkaround

This issue can cause SQL Server Process IDs (SPIDs) to block for an extended period of time on the following command:

(@P0 bigint)select jobtaskent0_.taskId as col_0_0_ from BASJobTasks jobtaskent0_ where (jobtaskent0_.onHoldCallbackPlugInId is not null) and jobtaskent0_.onHoldCallbackPlugInId<>-1 and jobtaskent0_.jobId=@P0
