The following Java error message appears on the BlackBerry smartphone when the application loader tool is used to install or update the BlackBerry Device Software:

The error message indicates that no applications are loaded on the BlackBerry smartphone. While using the application loader tool to install BlackBerry Device Software, existing applications on the BlackBerry smartphone are erased, and new applications are not installed.

  2. Perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry device software using KB03621 Cause 2.

Cause 2

The BlackBerry smartphone is connected to a laptop computer using a docking station.

Complete the following steps:

  2. Re-install the BlackBerry Device Software using the application loader tool. For more information, see KB11320.
CollapseAdditional Information

A backup file should have been created by default as part of a previous attempt to update BlackBerry Device Software. It might be possible to restore data such as contacts and calendar items by using the backup file.

Note: If a backup was never performed, specific data may not be recoverable. Third party applications will need to be re-installed.

To restore the data from a back-up file to the BlackBerry smartphone, please see KB10339.
