Wireless synchronization of a Novell® GroupWise® personal address book stops working or does not occur for one or more BlackBerry® smartphone users.

If the above scenario occurs, please see the below checklist

1)  Confirm that a Novell GroupWise personal address book has been assigned to the BlackBerry smartphone user

Subscribe the BlackBerry smartphone user to an appropriate Novell GroupWise personal address book. See KB03763 for the steps to subscribe to a personal address book.

2)  Verify the Novell GroupWise personal address book is not corrupt or does not contain corrupt entries

Perform the following steps:

  1. Create a new address book in the Novell GroupWise client.
  2. Copy the corrupted address book entries into the new address book by exporting the corrupted address book entries and then importing them into the new address book.

Note: When exporting the corrupted address book use a (*.txt) file instead of a Novell Address Book (*.NAB) file, then import the (*.txt) file that is created into the new address book.

  3. Delete the corrupted address book.

For instructions to create, copy and delete address books see the appropriate Novell GroupWise Windows Client User Guide on the Novell website by searching for the following topics:

    • Creating personal address books
    • Copying entries between personal address books
    • Deleting a personal address book

  4. Change the address book that the BlackBerry smartphone user is subscribed to on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to None.
  5. Clear the address book database on the affected BlackBerry smartphone. Follow the instructions in KB05313 to clear the address book database.
  6. Subscribe the BlackBerry smartphone user to the new address book. Follow the instructions in KB03763 to subscribe to the new address book.

Note: This process can take up to four hours to complete.

3)  Confirm the synchronization cycle with the address book on the BlackBerry smartphone is complete
