How to add a contact to a BlackBerry Messenger contact list

BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 and 6.0

  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, open BlackBerry Messenger.
  2. Display the menu and click Invite Contact (select Invite to BBM in BlackBerry Messenger 6.0). The Select Address screen appears.
  3. Choose to a dd a contact by using the following methods:
    • Click Enter a person's email address, PIN, or name and then type the information and click Send

    • Choose a contact name from the BlackBerry smartphone contact list

    • Click Scan a person's barcode (select Scan a PIN barcode in BlackBerry Messenger 6.0).

    • Click Enter an SMS contact's name or phone number and then type the information and click Add Contact


BlackBerry Messenger 2.0

To add a contact to the BlackBerry Messenger contact list, complete the following steps:

  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, open BlackBerry Messenger.
  2. Display the menu and click Add a Contact. The Select Address screen appears.

    Add a contact from the contact list by clicking the contact name. Or add a new contact by selecting Use Once, entering the contact's email address and clicking the trackwheel. The contact's email address is added.

  3. Display the menu and select Request Email<user_name>. The Add a Message screen appears.
  4. Click OK. The message is sent to the contact, the invitation can be customized before it is sent. The contact is added to the contact list once the invitation is accepted.
