Perform a clean uninstall of Google Talk for BlackBerry smartphones

This procedure removes all traces of Google Talk for BlackBerry smartphones from the BlackBerry smartphone. The procedure consists of the following three tasks:

  1. Delete the three service books associated with Google Talk for BlackBerry smartphones.
  2. Delete the two modules associated with Google Talk for BlackBerry smartphones.
  3. Register the BlackBerry smartphone on the wireless network.

Task 1

To delete the three service books for Google Talk for BlackBerry smartphones, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Home screen, go to Options > Advanced Options >Service Book.

    If you are running BlackBerry® Device Software 4.0 or earlier, go to Options > Service Book.

    Note: Depending on the theme running on your BlackBerry smartphone, you may need to click Settings and then Options.

  2. Scroll to the Key Negotiation [KEYNEGO] service book, display the menu and select Delete.
  3. Repeat step 2 for the BBFS2 [BBIMCONFIG] and BBFS2 [BBIM] service books.
  4. Display the menu and select Close.

Task 2

To delete the modules for Google Talk for BlackBerry smartphones, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Home screen, go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications.

    If you are running BlackBerry Device Software 4.0 or earlier, go to Options > Applications.

    Note: Depending on the theme running on your BlackBerry smartphone, you may need to click Settings then Options.

  2. Display the menu and select Modules.
  3. Scroll to net_rim_bb_qm_google, display the menu and select Delete.
  4. When prompted to reset the BlackBerry smartphone, click No.
  5. Scroll to net_rim_bb_qm_google_resource_en, display the menu and select Delete.
  6. When prompted to reset the BlackBerry smartphone, click Yes.

Task 3

After the BlackBerry smartphone has been reset and the Home screen appears, register the BlackBerry smartphone on the wireless network. For instructions, see KB00510.
