How to prevent a BlackBerry smartphone from being used as an IP Modem

The Internet Protocol (IP) Modem functionality can be restricted for a BlackBerry smartphone with the use of the Disable IP Modem IT policy rule.

To set the Disable IP Modem IT policy rule, complete the following steps:

  1. Open BlackBerry Manager by navigating to Start > All Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Manager.
  2. On the left pane, click BlackBerry Domain.
  3. On the right pane, click the Global tab.
  4. Click Edit Properties.
  5. On the left pane, click IT Policy.
  6. On the right pane, click IT Policies.
  7. Click the button to open a new dialog box.
  8. Select the appropriate IT policy and click Properties.
  9. On the left pane, select the Security Policy Group.
  10. On the right pane, select Disable IP Modem.
  11. Set to True to turn off the IP Modem functionality on the BlackBerry smartphones assigned to this IT policy.

Note: To turn on the IP Modem functionality, set the Disable IP Modem IT policy rule to False or Default.
