How to schedule automatic backups of BlackBerry smartphone data using BlackBerry Desktop software

To schedule automatic backups of BlackBerry smartphone data, complete the following steps:

Desktop Manager for Windows

  1. Connect your BlackBerry smartphone to your computer.
  2. On the Backup and Restore tab in BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager, click Configure Automatic Backup.
  3. Select the Automatically back up my device check box.
  4. Set how often the automatic backup should occur.
  5. Perform one of the following options:
    • To back up all BlackBerry smartphone data, select the Backup all device application data option.
    • To exclude email messages or organizer data, select the Backup all device application data, except for option and select the data to exclude.
  6. Click Save.

 Desktop Software for Mac

  1. Connect your BlackBerry smartphone to your computer.
  2. Click Device in the menu bar then select Device Options...
  3. Click the Backup icon
  4. Select Automatically back up when device is connected

Web Desktop Manager

1.  Login into BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager
2.  Connect your BlackBerry® device to your computer.
3. On the Backup and Restore tab, click Configure Backup Options.
4. Select the Automatically back up my device check box.
5. Set how often automatic backup should occur.
6. Perform one of the following actions:
If your device contains on-board device memory, to back up files that you saved to your device, verify that mass storage mode is turned on. Select the Back up on-board device memory check box.
To back up all device data, select the Backup all device application data option.
To exclude email messages or organizer data, select the Backup all device application data, except for option. Specify the type of data to exclude.
7. Click Save.
