Downloading and purchasing applications using BlackBerry App World

BlackBerry® smartphone users can purchase and download applications using the BlackBerry App World™ storefront. BlackBerry smartphone users using a Wi-Fi® connection must also have an active data connection to the wireless service provider's network when using BlackBerry App World.

Note: BlackBerry smartphone users must have a BlackBerry® ID account to purchase items in BlackBerry App World. For more information on how to create a BlackBerry ID account, see KB24062.

BlackBerry App World 3.0:

To purchase an application, complete the following steps:

  1. Select an application.
  2. On the application screen, click on the purchase price button (the cost of the application).
  3. If not currently logged in to BlackBerry App World, a prompt to enter the BlackBerry ID account information will display, click Login.
  4. If a device password is enabled, enter it at the prompt to confirm the intent to install the application.
  5. Review the purchasing information and payment method.

    Note: To change the payment method, click the Edit button. See the Additional Information section for further details.
  6. If the details are correct, click Buy Now to complete the purchase. Click Cancel to return to the application details.
  7. Once the order is confirmed, the download of the application will begin.

    Note: Once a transaction has been completed, the BlackBerry smartphone user receives an email message with an invoice confirming the purchase. This email message should be saved as proof of purchase.

  8. Once the download process has completed, the application will install. Be sure to follow steps when prompted during the installation, including a reboot of the BlackBerry smartphone where required.

    Note: Exiting out of BlackBerry App World during the installation may interrupt the installation process. Be sure to let the download and installation complete before exiting BlackBerry App World

To install a free application, complete the following steps:

  1. Select an application
  2. On the application screen, click Download
  3. If not currently logged in to BlackBerry App World, a prompt to enter the BlackBerry ID account information will display, click Login.
  4. If a device password is enabled, enter it at the prompt to confirm

BlackBerry App World 2.0:

To purchase an application, complete the following steps:

  1. Select an application.
  2. On the BlackBerry App World Details screen, click Purchase.
  3. If not currently logged in to BlackBerry App World, a prompt to enter the BlackBerry® ID account information will display, click Login.
  4. If a device password is enabled, enter it at the prompt to confirm the intent to install the application.
  5. Review the purchasing information and payment method.

    Note: To change the payment method, click the Edit button. See the Additional Information section for further details.
  6. If the details are correct, click Buy Now to complete the purchase. Click Cancel to return to the application details.
  7. Once the order is confirmed, the download of the application will begin.

After clicking the Edit button from the purchase information page, complete one of the following steps to select a different payment method.

Note: Not all payment types are available in all regions. For a list of available payment options in each region, see KB25368.

Carrier Billing

  • Select the option to bill through the wireless carrier, then click Next.
  • When the change has been verified, click OK at the payment info saved box to be returned to complete the payment process.

Credit Card

  • Select the option to bill to credit card, then click Next.
  • Complete the Payment Options page with the required information, then click Save.
  • Once the credit card information has been validated, click OK at the payment info saved box to be returned to complete the payment process.

PayPal

  • Select the option to bill to a PayPal account, then click Next.
  • Enter the PayPal log in information, then click I Agree.
  • Once the PayPal account has been verified, click OK at the payment info saved box to be returned to complete the payment process.
