Article ID: KB19234

Type: Support Content

Last Modified: 11-20-2013

Product(s) Affected:

  • BES10
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Domino
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Novell GroupWise
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 to 5.0 SP4
  • BlackBerry Device Service 6.0 to 6.2

When running BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Device Service, the BlackBerry Dispatcher service stops. Attempting to start the BlackBerry Dispatcher service results in the following error:

Windows could not start the BlackBerry Dispatcher on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 5408.

The temporary Server Router Protocol Identifier (SRP ID) or temporary Client Access License (CAL) have reached the expiration date.

If the temporary CAL has expired, the following message is displayed when logging into the BlackBerry Administration Service console:

The EVALUATION license has expired. You must specify the license information to start the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Contact support to receive additional license information.

To resolve this issue, input either a permanent SRP ID or CAL key.

For more information on how to check and change the SRP ID and SRP authentication key, see KB04744.

For more information on how to check and change the CAL key, see KB10112.
