How to register or remove a registered email address with BlackBerry Messenger

To perform this task, you must have an email address that is associated with your BlackBerry® smartphone.

Note: Depending on the data plan that you have with your wireless service provider, this feature might not be supported.

  1. On the Home screen or in the Instant Messaging folder on the BlackBerry smartphone, click BlackBerry® Messenger.
  2. On the contact list screen, press the Menu key.
  3. Click Options.
  4. Click Backup.
  5. Click Backup files remotely.
  6. Highlight an email address to register and click to select it.
  7. Click Register.
  8. Click OK.

    To view the status of the registration for the email address, repeat steps 1 through 5.

To remove a registered email address, perform the following steps:

  1. On the Home screen or in the Instant Messaging folder on the BlackBerry smartphone, click BlackBerry Messenger.
  2. On the contact list screen, press the Menu key.
  3. Click Options.
  4. Click Backup.
  5. Click Backup files remotely.
  6. On the Remote Backup screen, highlight an email address.
  7. Click the Menu key.
  8. Click Edit Email Status.
  9. Press the Menu key.
  10. Click Deactivate Email.
