How to clear cache for BlackBerry World on BlackBerry smartphones and the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet

Warning: The following procedure will clear any cache data that BlackBerry World stores on the BlackBerry smartphone and may remove any applications that have been archived to a media card.

For BlackBerry 10 smartphones:

Note: Completing the following steps also clears Search History and Bookmarks.

  1. Launch BlackBerry World.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings > General.
  3. Tap the Refresh BlackBerry World button.
  4. Review the prompt and tap Refresh.

For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry 7.1 or earlier that have a physical keyboard:

BlackBerry World 3.0 and 4.0:

  1. Launch BlackBerry World.
  2. While pressing and holding the alt key, type RSTRST.

BlackBerry World 2.0 and 2.1:

  1. Launch BlackBerry World.
  2. While pressing and holding the alt key, type RST.

For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry 7.1 or earlier that have a touch screen keyboard:

BlackBerry World 3.0 and 4.0 on the BlackBerry 9500/9530/9850/9860 smartphone:

  1. Launch BlackBerry World.
  2. Ensure the smartphone is being held in landscape view.
  3. To activate the touch screen keyboard, press the Menu key and select Show Keyboard.
  4. Press and hold the shift key to lock into shift mode.
  5. Type 34(34(

BlackBerry World 3.0 and 4.0 on the BlackBerry 9520/9550 smartphone:

  1. Launch BlackBerry World.
  2. Ensure the smartphone is being held in portrait view.
  3. To activate the touch screen keyboard, press the Menu key and select Show Keyboard.
  4. Press and hold the shift key (123) to lock into shift mode.
  5. Type 1?21?2

BlackBerry World 2.0 and 2.1 on the BlackBerry 9500/9530/9850/9860 smartphone:

  1. Launch BlackBerry World.
  2. Ensure the smartphone is being held in landscape view.
  3. Select the Categories listing.
  4. To activate the touch screen keyboard, press the Menu key and select Show Keyboard.
  5. Press and hold the shift key to lock into shift mode.
  6. Type 34(

BlackBerry World will close automatically and the smartphone may become unresponsive for a few moments while the cache data is cleared. This process may take several seconds, depending on how much storage space is freed. The next time BlackBerry World is launched, logging into My World using a BlackBerry ID will result in the applications list being refreshed. This will allow archived applications to be downloaded again, if desired.

For the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet:

  1. Launch BlackBerry World.
  2. Swipe in from the bottom-left corner of the frame to display the keyboard.
  3. Type RST.

Note: BlackBerry World will not provide any notification that the reset has been performed.
