  • Verizon Backup Assistant
  • DT 2002717
CollapseOverview
When launching Verizon Backup Assistant an Uncaught Exception is displayed if the application is disallowed through an application control policy or unlisted application control policy. The application is not removed from the BlackBerry® smartphone.
CollapseCause

The Verizon Backup Assistant application is signed with the RBA key and is protected from being removed from a BlackBerry Enterprise Server. There is no such provision to shield RBA-signed applications from the permissions directive. As a result, the Verizon application is installed, but unable to work until it is configured.

CollapseResolution
This is a previously reported issue that is being investigated by our development team. A resolution is currently unavailable.
CollapseWorkaround
Workaround 1

Manually delete the application from the BlackBerry smartphone.

Workaround 2

Contact BlackBerry Technical Support to request the Verizon Backup Assistant Removal Utility. This utility will provide BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrators with the capability to uninstall Verizon’s Backup Assistant application from a device by pushing the removal utility to the device using a software configuration. When the Verizon Backup Assistant Removal Utility is pushed to a device, it will automatically start running and uninstall all versions of the Verizon Backup Assistant application .cod files. If a .cod file is in use, the file will be marked for deletion after reboot. The Verizon Backup Assistant Removal Utility will then schedule itself for deletion upon reboot.
