BlackBerry App World for BlackBerry smartphones icon is missing from the BlackBerry smartphone after upgrading to BlackBerry App World 4.0.0.63 to 4.0.0.65.
CollapseCause
There are multiple causes for this issue:

  1. BlackBerry App World was updated from 4.0.0.63 to 4.0.0.65 on a BlackBerry 6 smartphone with older BlackBerry Device Software.
  2. The BlackBerry smartphone was not restarted after upgrading to BlackBerry App World. 
  3. BlackBerry App World is not installed on the BlackBerry smartphone.
  4. The BlackBerry App World icon is hidden.

Cause 1

BlackBerry App World was updated to 4.0.0.63 to 4.0.0.65 on a BlackBerry 6 smartphone with older BlackBerry Device Software.

Resolution 1

On BlackBerry 6 OS versions prior to 6.0.0.706 and the App World Icon is not visible, please download and install the BlackBerry App World 4.0.0.55.

  1. Open the BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone.
  2. Browse to http://mobileapps.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/entry.do?code=appworld3
  3. After download, please restart your BlackBerry smartphone when prompted.
  4. Verify that BlackBerry App World is located on the home screen.
BlackBerry 6 smartphones with an upgrade path to BlackBerry 6.0.0.706 OS or higher should upgrade to the latest version of BlackBerry Device software available from the wireless service provider in order to resolve multiple issues with BlackBerry Balance.

On BlackBerry 6 OS versions 6.0.0.706 and higher and the App World Icon is not visible, please download and install the latest version of BlackBerry App World.

Cause 2

The BlackBerry smartphone was not restarted after upgrading BlackBerry App World.

Resolution  2

Turn the BlackBerry smartphone off.

  1. Pull the battery out of the BlackBerry smartphone.
  2. Place the battery back in and let the BlackBerry smartphone restart.

Cause 3

BlackBerry App World is not installed on the BlackBerry smartphone.

Resolution 3

Open the BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone.

  1. Browse to http://www.blackberry.com/appworld/download.
  2. After download, verify that BlackBerry App World is located on the home screen.

Cause 4

The BlackBerry App World icon is hidden.

Resolution 4

On the home screen, press the BlackBerry menu button and select Show All, and verify the screen is in the ALL panel home screen.

  1. If the BlackBerry App World icon does not appear, enter each folder and perform step 1 again. If the BlackBerry App World icon does not appear after checking each folder, see resolution for cause 2.
  2. Highlight the BlackBerry App World icon, press the BlackBerry menu button, and select Hide. This will deselect the hide setting, removing the check mark from it.

BlackBerry 6 smartphones users that are active on BlackBerry Enterprise Server where BlackBerry Balance IT Policies have been enabled will require BlackBerry 6.0.0.706 OS 
or higher and at least BlackBerry App World 4.0.0.65 in order for App World to work correctly on the BlackBerry smartphone.
