When synchronizing contacts using BlackBerry® Desktop Software the Notes field in BlackBerry Contacts is limited to 4KB of data. This behaviour is by design.

When Notes larger than 4KB from a mail client on the computer are synchronized to the BlackBerry smartphone, the data is truncated to 4KB on the device. BlackBerry Desktop Software ensures that the truncated field content is not marked as a conflict with the original larger Notes field contents on the computer on future syncs.

Upon the first sync BlackBerry smartphones users may be prompted with a conflict resolution screen if contact notes on the computer are larger than 4KB in size. BlackBerry smartphone users should choose Use the data on my computer, or Create separate entries for conflicting data,  or Don't sync conflicting data as the conflict resolution option to ensure no loss in data beyond the 4KB that is stored in the Notes field of the Contact record in the computer.
