While the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server is undergoing high CPU usage with reported mail delays the BlackBerry services logs will indicate database connection failures. The line below will be displayed in the BlackBerry Alert Services (ALRT) logs when high CPU utilization issue first starts:

After this first indication, the logs may mainly log the following line:

[30000] (07/05 23:59:45.572):{0x11C0} [Alarm::ActivateAlarm] Queuing alarm: <N/A> | BlackBerry Messaging Agent <server name> Agent # (Application Event Log on <server FQDN>) | 07/05/2012 23:59:45 (AFFF61A8) -> ConnectionItem::ConnectToDB: COM Error 0x800A0E7A - Unknown error 0x800A0E7A - Source: "ADODB.Connection" - Description "Provider cannot be found. CollapseCause
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is incurring high CPU usage due to either a third party service installed on the same server or it may simply not have enough resources to support the number of active BlackBerry users.
CollapseResolution
  1. Confirm the hardware requirements for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server has been met in order to support the current number of active users.
  2. Confirm no third party service has been installed on the same server and is consuming system resources.
CollapseWorkaround
Reduce the number of users presently active on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server in order to comply with the BlackBerry Enterprise Service hardware requirements.
CollapseAdditional Information
The BlackBerry Enterprise Service hardware requirements are listed in the Installation and Configuration Guide. For BlackBerry Enterprise Service documentation please visit the BlackBerry Manuals & Help website.
