CollapseOverview

When troubleshooting BlackBerry® PlayBook™ Work Email Microsoft® ActiveSync® issues, it will sometimes be necessary to collect Lotus® Traveler Logs. Traveler will only provide detailed log information after verbose logging is enabled via the Domino Server Console. Once enabled, the Logs are generated for each mail account set up to receive message via ActiveSync.

Note: By default - verbose Traveler logs are disabled

Here are the steps:

  • To configure Traveler to Log Activity enter the following command at the Domino Console:

Tell Traveler log adduser finest

  • Or to add logging for a specific mail account

Tell Traveler log adduser finest <username>

  • After running the adduser command Traveler will only begin to collect data once a data Sync has occured between the device(s) and server. For a specific device, to expedite this process - Perform a manual Sync on the device (in Messages > Swipe down in the message list).
  • Then to collect the logs run the following commands:

Tell Traveler dump <username>

Tell Traveler log collect

  • This copies all log files to <data>/IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT/traveler/logs/<datestamp>

The logs will be named for each mail account and will include:

A Field Mapping Table as well as account information, which will verify if the Traveler Server can open the mail file and what devices are configured to synchronise via ActiveSync. This information will first confirm that Traveler is configured correctly to allow synchronisation.
