Unable to change the search provider for the Voice Control application

Article ID: KB33519

Type: Support Content

Last Modified: 02-01-2013

Product(s) Affected:

  • BlackBerry 10
  • BlackBerry 10 Applications
  • BlackBerry 10
  • PR 279877
When using the Search the Internet feature of the Voice Control app, the default search provider set within the Browser app is not used cannot be changed.

The Browser uses the first search provider available in alphabetical order when processing websearch: requests received via the invoke framework. As an example, if Bing, Google, and Yahoo! are the available search providers, Bing will be used.

This is a previously reported issue that is being investigated by our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.
When launching the Voice Control application, it is not required to say Search the Internet, and instead Search <search provider name> for <term> can be said. As example, Search Bing for BlackBerry can be spoken to search Bing for the term BlackBerry.
