How to integrate a Cogeco email on a BlackBerry PlayBook or BlackBerry 10 smartphone

Follow the steps below to integrate a Cogeco email address on:

BlackBerry 10 smartphone:

  1. On the home screen, swipe down and press Settings.
  2. Select Accounts > Add Account >  Email, Calendar and Contacts.
  3. Enter the Email Address and press Next.
  4. Enter the Password and press  Next.

If the email does not integrate successfully, choose Advanced from the bottom of the screen, select POP, and provide the settings as below:

Note: Substitute the correct Cogeco username and password accordingly.

  • Username: enter the first portion of the Cogeco email before the  @ symbol (for example: for the  Username would be justinjones)
  • Server Address: enter
  • Port: change to 110 by turning Use SSL to Off.
  • SMTP Username: leave blank
  • SMTP Password: leave blank
  • SMTP Server Address: enter
  • SMTP Port: change to 25 by turning the SMTP Encryption to Off.

Select Done to complete the setup.

BlackBerry PlayBook tablet:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and select  Settings.
  2. Select Accounts > Add New Account > Email, Calendar, and Contacts
  3. Enter the Email Address and Password and press Continue.

If the email does not integrate successfully, press Back, then Advanced Setup from the bottom of the screen, select POP, and provide the settings as below:

Note: Substitute the correct Cogeco username and password accordingly.

  • Username: enter the first portion of the Cogeco email before the @ symbol (for example: for the Username would be justinjones)
  • Server Address: enter
  • Port: change to 110 by turning Use SSL to Off.
  • SMTP Username: leave blank
  • SMTP Password: leave blank
  • SMTP Server Address: enter
  • SMTP Port: change to 25 by changing SMTP Encryption to Off.

Select Save to complete the setup.

Cogeco's SMTP servers are configured so you can only send using the Cogeco SMTP server if you are connected to their wireless network. In order to send email from a BlackBerry 10 while connected to the mobile network the SMTP server address must be configured to use the mobile network provider's SMTP server.  To obtain the correct SMTP server settings please contact the wireless service provider the device is activated on.
