Java update will not install when applying BlackBerry Enterprise Server Maintenance Release

When applying BlackBerry Enterprise Server Maintenance Release, the Java update will not install resulting in the BAS-AS and MDS-CS services not starting.

During installation of the Maintenance Release a Windows Installer pop-up appears prompting to select OK and the Maintenance Release will install successfully, however the Java update will not be installed and is not listed under Programs and Features.

Within the Setup log a similar log line will appear:

[30000] (09/26 10:13:20.466):{0xA68} CProcessWrapper::RunCommand: The exit code of the process for "C:\Users\besadmin\\tools\jre-6uXX-windows-i586.exe" /s /L D:\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Logs\jre1603b37.log_20130926101247.txt STATIC=1 is [1639]

If the Java installation file and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Logging folder are in different drives, then the Java update will not install during Maintenance Release install.
This is a previously reported issue that is being investigated by our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

Manually install the Java update either before or after the Maintenance Release has been installed.

To manually install the Java Runtime locate the file jre-6uXX-windows-i586.exe in the extracted setup files, it should be in folder named tools.

From command prompt navigate to the location of java update file and run:

jre-6u45-windows-i586.exe /L C:\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Logs\Installer\jre1603bXX.log.txt STATIC=1

OR if installer logging is not required then run:

jre-6u45-windows-i586.exe STATIC=1
