How to import contacts from the SIM card to the contact list on the BlackBerry smartphone

Contact information from a SIM card can be imported to the device memory on the BlackBerry smartphone.

BlackBerry 10 OS:

To import a single contact, complete the following steps on the smartphone:

  1. Open Contacts.
  2. Tap the tab menu button on the bottom left and select SIM. The SIM phone book is displayed.
  3. Select the contact to import.
  4. Tap the More button (3 vertical dots) and select Copy to.
  5. Select Local Contacts (and any other account to add the contact to) and tap Done.

To import all contacts, complete the following steps on the smartphone:

  1. Open Contacts.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings.
  3. Under the SIM Card heading, tap the Import Contacts from SIM Card button.
  4. Once completed, an Import Complete message will be displayed and the latest import date and time will be displayed below the button.

BlackBerry 7.1 and earlier:

To import a single contact, complete the following steps:

  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen, open Contacts.
  2. Display the menu and select SIM Phone Book. The SIM phone book is loaded.
  3. Select the contact you want to import, then select Add to Contacts.
  4. In the New Address screen, type any additional information.

To import all contacts, complete the following steps:

  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen, click Contacts.
  2. Display the menu and select SIM Phone Book. The SIM phone book is loaded.
  3. Display the menu and select Copy All To Contacts.
  4. Go back to the contact list and make sure all of the entries are displayed.

Note:

  • Contacts in the device memory can be saved to the SIM card individually, however, all data from the contact list cannot be exported to the SIM card.
  • If the contact list is blank, press the Menu key and select Filter. Clear any filters that are selected.
