The option to compose MMS messages is missing or not available on the BlackBerry smartphone

When displaying the menu in the Messages application on the BlackBerry® smartphone, there is no option to compose Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) messages.

 

Complete the appropriate steps:

 

Step 1 - The service book that is used to send MMS messages is not present on the BlackBerry smartphone.

Perform a Register Now operation on the BlackBerry smartphone to request new service books. For instructions, see KB00510.


Step 2 - The wireless service provider has not turned on the MMS messages feature for the BlackBerry smartphone.

Contact the wireless service provider to determine if the MMS messages feature has been turned on for the BlackBerry smartphone.


Step 3 - The version of the BlackBerry Device Software does not support MMS messaging.

Update the BlackBerry Device Software to the latest available version from the wireless service provider. For instructions, see KB16068.

If the BlackBerry smartphone is activated on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server there may be an IT policy that could be preventing the BlackBerry smartphone from sending MMS messages. Contact the administrator for the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server to determine if an IT policy is preventing the BlackBerry smartphone from sending MMS messages.

Note: The following IT Policies can impact the ability to send MMS messages:

Disable MMS = TRUE
Enable WAP Config = FALSE
Allow Other Browser Services = FALSE

In some cases the BlackBerry smartphone may not be setup to receive the MMS service books depending on the wireless service provider, BlackBerry smartphone model, and BlackBerry Device Software version. Please consult an escalation team member to confirm that service book delivery has been configured for the wireless service provider, BlackBerry smartphone model, and BlackBerry Device Software version.
