In order to extract information such as an IPD file from a BlackBerry® Backup (.bbb) perform the following steps:

  1. Rename the backup file extension from  .bbb to  .zip
  2. Double-click the zip file to extract its contents.
The device database backup file will be located within the Databases folder, titled Databases.ipd
  • The Databases.ipd file can be used to restore data to a BlackBerry smartphone.

If the BlackBerry Backup includes the built-in media storage, a folder titled Internal_Media_Card will be present.
  • emmc.zip will contain the device data backed up from the built-in media storage.
