When attempting to install some applications on the BlackBerry® smartphone, a 909 Authentication error message may be displayed and the application does not install.

Some of the following preloaded root certificates may have been removed:

  • AT&T FullTrust
  • AT&T SemiTrust
  • thawte Premium Server CA
  • GeoTrust Universal CA for UTI
  • Verisign Class 3 Public PCA-G1

The following steps can be used to reinstall the removed certificates:

  1. Go into Options application
  2. Go into Security Settings
  3. Go into Advanced Security Settings
  4. Go into Certificates
  5. Type rcrt
  6. You will be presented with a dialog Root certificates will be added and the device will reset. Do you wish to continue?
    Choose Yes
  7. At this point, the BlackBerry smartphon will reboot
