Receiving "app error 603" or "app error 523" after registration to the cellular network

If a BlackBerry Curve 9300 smartphone is turned on and a connection is made to the cellular network, the following error may be encountered:

App error 603


App error 523


This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. A resolution time frame is currently unavailable.


Perform the following steps:

  1. Turn on the BlackBerry smartphone
  2. Turn the radio off before it connects to a data network
  3. Go to > Options
  4. Go to > Device
  5. Go to > Advanced System Settings
  6. Go to > Service Book
  7. Locate Gameloft VPL in the list
  8. Highlight Gameloft VPL, press the Menu key and select Delete
  9. Once deleted, reset the BlackBerry smartphone by removing and then reinserting the battery
