Changes made to distributed appointments on the BlackBerry result in email notifications sent to all attendees

Article ID: KB33128

Type: Support Content

Last Modified: 11-23-2012

Product(s) Affected:

  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Novell GroupWise
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 SP1 to 5.0 SP4 for Novell GroupWise
  • Novell GroupWise 2012 SP1
  • DT 6400248
In GroupWise 2012 SP1, when the subject or location of an appointment is modified from the GroupWise client, the attendees are not sent a notification of the change. When performing the same type of change from the BlackBerry, all attendees are notified of the update in the form of a notification email.

Normally, any modification to an appointment/meeting would have required the original item be retracted and a new item created. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is designed to match that method of updates. Whenever an item is retracted or recreated, a notification is sent out to the attendees. This is by design.

GroupWise 2012 reduces calendar clutter with one feature documented as minimized redistribution of modified appointments. In this version, the only changes that will result in retract/recreate are those that affect the start/end time.

GroupWise WebAccess 2012 displays the same behaviour as the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, where any changes made to subject or location fields lead to notification emails sent to all attendees for that change.
