How to switch the BlackBerry ID account on BBM for Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone

If you would like to keep your existing BlackBerry ID account and just update the username, you can just change the email address that is associated with the account.

If you would like to stop using the BlackBerry ID that is currently in use on your device and setup BBM using a new or different BlackBerry ID, complete the following steps:

Important Note: The BlackBerry ID account is responsible for backing up and restoring the BBM contact list. If you switch to a different BlackBerry ID account any previous BBM contacts will be lost.

  1. Delete/Uninstall BBM for Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone. For steps to delete an app on your device, see your device's user guide.
  2. Install the latest version of BBM from one of the following locations:
  3. Once installed, launch BBM and sign in using the BlackBerry ID account you wish to switch to.
