Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Microsoft® Windows® operating system. Document and back up the existing registry entries prior to implementing any changes.
After upgrading to Service Pack 2, the Messaging Agent of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is unable to connect to the Microsoft SQL Server. The following lines occur in the MAGT log file:

- Enable TCP/IP, if needed.
- In the Registry Editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Database\
- Click Edit > New > DWORD Value.
- The new key name is highlighted. Rename the new key to Port and press ENTER.
- Right-click on the new key and select Modify.
- Change the Base Option to Decimal.
- Set the decimal value to the port number you wish to use by typing the port number in the Value data field.
- Click OK.
