Synchronizing media using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer

BlackBerry Desktop Software Mac allows media synchronization (i.e. pictures, Music and video) from Mac computers to BlackBerry smartphones.

Music

For information on synchronizing music from a Mac to a BlackBerry smartphone, please see KB19152.

Pictures

The following picture file types are supported:

  • .bmp
  • .jpg
  • .gif
  • .tiff
  • .png
Note: Any picture files that are an unsupported format will be automatically trans-coded to .jpeg format.

Complete the following steps to synchronize pictures from the Mac to the BlackBerry smartphone:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the Mac.
  2. On the Mac, in the Applications folder, click the BlackBerry Desktop Software icon.
  3. In the Media section, in the left pane, click Pictures.
  4. Select the Sync iPhoto Albums and Events check box.
  5. Do any of the following:
    • To include all pictures, albums, and events, select the All Events check box.
    • To include videos, select the Include videos from iPhoto check box.
    • To include specific albums, select the check box beside one or more albums.
    • To include specific events, select the check box beside one or more events.
    • To optimize pictures to reduce the size and for better viewing on the screen of smartphone, select the Optimize pictures check box.
  6. Click Sync.

Videos

The following video file types are supported:

  • .mpeg
  • .mp4
  • .mov
  • .avi
  • .mpg

Complete the following steps to synchronize videos from the Mac to the BlackBerry smartphone:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the Mac.
  2. On the Mac, in the Applications folder, click the BlackBerry Desktop Software icon.
  3. In the Media section in the left pane, click Videos.
  4. Select the Sync specific videos from iTunes check box.
  5. Select the check box beside one or more video.
  6. Click Sync.
