How to download legacy BlackBerry ring tones to a BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry 6

Legacy BlackBerry® ring tones can be download to BlackBerry® smartphones running BlackBerry® 6 Device Software. To download these ring tones, please perform the following steps:

  1. Visit mobile.blackberry.com from the BlackBerry Browser.
  2. Scroll down and select OS 5.0 ringtones for BlackBerry 6 OS
  3. Download the ring tones to the BlackBerry smartphone.

To confirm that the ring tones exist on the BlackBerry smartphone, navigate to Media > Ring Tones. Open the All Ring Tones folder, and navigate through the expanded list.

Note: BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry 6 do not contain legacy BlackBerry ring tones (i.e. BBPro_Alarm). Therefore, after upgrading a BlackBerry smartphone to BlackBerry 6 the device will automatically assign a default ring tone to a profile that was previously configured with a legacy BlackBerry ring tone. When the legacy ring tones are downloaded, the BlackBerry Profiles may need reconfiguring.
