Unable to synchronize contacts for a newly created Yahoo! Mail email account

Contact synchronization fails when using the Email Setup application on a BlackBerry® smartphone to add a newly created Yahoo!® Mail email account (contacts cannot be imported or exported). The synchronization screen hangs and must be exited manually. The email account will be added and functional but contact sync will not take place.


Yahoo! corporate policy blocks contact sync for 14 days after a new Yahoo! Mail email account is created. For more information about this policy, see the following Yahoo! Help page:


Enable contact synchronization using the Email Setup application after the 14-day waiting period has passed.
