BlackBerry Desktop Software is unable to detect the BlackBerry Smartphone when a full version of Roxio® Media Manager is installed

After installing BlackBerry® Desktop Manager 4.2.2 to 5.01 with the option to install Roxio® Media Manager for BlackBerry® smartphones, the BlackBerry Desktop Manager is unable to detect the smartphone. The computer is also unable to detect the smartphone and displays RIM COMPOSITE Driver.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Remove the Roxio Media Manager application from the computer. For instructions, search Clean Install Roxio Creator on the Roxio Support Site.
  2. Remove the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. For instructions, see KB02206.
  3. Reinstall the BlackBerry Desktop Manager with the Roxio Media Manager option.
